All right...much better.

Yesterday, we moved Gina from her apt. to her parents' apt. With some help, we were able to get things done by 1:30pm after starting at 9am. Not bad. She doesn't have a ton of stuff, but she had enough. That said, I was completely beat down most of yesterday. And I'm pretty sore today...

Still, Gina and I decided to go see a movie. She wanted to see "Spiderman 2" which I figured would be worth my time. How WRONG I was! (Spoilers coming up...not that it matters)...

Worst....movie....ever!

This makes "The Fan" look good, and that had been my previous worst movie. The only redeeming quality of "Spidey 2" was Dr. Octopus, and he was barely on the screen. He was a side note to the bullshit "Peter Parker struggles with his calling" storyline crap. I HATE when they try to do that...try to "rationalize" a superhero movie...because, ya know what? It usually turns out poorly, as this one did. It dragged and dragged and dragged. They repeated shit over and over...and "reminded" the audience of what was said earlier in the movie too many damn times. The cliches (which are typical in a superhero movie, I know) were just too suffocating and over the top, and I completely felt myself not giving in and suspending reality (again, which you typically must do for a superhero movie) at times. Also, though I've never even TOUCHED or SEEN the actual comic book, nor do I know the "spiderman story" from TV shows or anything like that, this movie was so damned predictable it was sickening. The MINUTE I saw Dr. Octopus' wife, I knew she was dead in a freak experiment accident and that would transform Dr. Ock as well. God! Terrible, terrible, terrible. I would have liked to see Dr. Octopus more, especially given the fact that the first movie spent so much time on Green Goblin.

I knew I should have seen "Shrek 2" or "Super Size Me" or even "Day After Tomorrow" instead...ugh.

BTW, Laz, a New York Little League team traveled to our ballpark to play on Wednesday...they're in town for a weekend tournament...it was "Bayside"...any idea where that is? Are they rich that they can travel out here for tourneys? :)

Now, I must adorn myself with White Sox gear, and wait for Gina to show up (sadly, in her Cubs gear) and then we're off to Wrigley for the game. Watch for us...we'll be down the right field line, probably past the bullpen, right up on the field.

Yeah...

No word from the potential new job, but I assume they're mailing me an offer. If I don't hear anything by Friday, I'll call them.

Yesterday Gina and I took a ride out to the I&M Canal Bike Trail, because I wanted to get away from the Lakefront Trail, which is so damned crowded all the time. Gina's still learning how to use the gears and whatnot, and the I&M trail is peaceful and empty enough to use as a learning tool. We ended up riding three miles, all told. We then stopped at Lindy's/Gertie's for ice cream. If you've never been to Gertie's, go. None of the current branches are as good as the longstanding one that sat on 59th and Kedzie (it's long gone now), but they are pretty solid still.

Now, I have to drive Kazak out to The Brook, stop somewhere and get my car's city sticker and then go to work at the ballpark. I'm really tiring of working there, if only because of the "inconvenience"...I mean, it's easy money, but it blows my Sundays (including this weekend, the 4th) and Wednesday evenings. But, we gotta do what we gotta do, right?

All right...more later.

I guess I've said nothing about the job search recently, eh?

Well, good news. Thursday's interview went well. Very well. So well that on Friday the human resources person said they'd be making a formal offer early this week. It'd be good money (20 percent better than PFW), a much better position (m a n a g i n g--e d i t o r) and a better topic than the water-quality job I interviewed for a couple months ago. It's a topic I'd actually be interested in...the magazine is "S n a c k-F o o d-&-W h o l e s a l e-B a k e r y" and I read much of it and found myself quite interested, believe it or not.

I would also do some traveling...once a month or so...to research and write stories on companies in the industry. Even possibly some overseas stuff. That's cool. Traveling is nice because it breaks up the monotony of going to the office every damn day.

I also heard back from the a u t o people today, who got my writing test. They said they'd be in touch. So, maybe I'll have two jobs to choose from. That job, of course, has its perks (my own new car every week or so--to test-drive and use as my own car), but I don't know much about the job, truthfully. That interview was only a prelim kind of interview. Whereas Thursday's was from 10:30-1:15.

So things look much better, obviously. :) I'll keep you posted, of course.

So much to do in the near future, and so little time. So appreciate this blog, as it's more of a procrastination blog than anything. And an update.

Found out, via my roommate, that Kazak is definitely freaked out by the neighborhood fireworks. I guess yesterday evening some of the neighbors were blowing them off, and Kazak was totally freaking out, trying to hide and staying next to Butch and everything. So I'll be shipping Kazak to Bolingbrook for the weekend. It'll be a good vacation for him too.

Go Sox. That's all I have to say on that...big wins on Saturday and Sunday and a big trade on Sunday too. And we get the Cubbies again next weekend. I'll be at Friday's game, sitting up close and personal down one of the lines. Same general seats as Bartman had...same area (but maybe on the other side of the field, we'll see).

I have to now walk Kazak and then decide if I'm gonna go to the Taste with Gina and her now-former roommate...Gina moves out on Thursday and has much packing to do.

Whatever...that's all for the moment.
