More food for thought, so to speak...

Weight on Thursday (before last post): 185 lbs.
Weight Sat. morn, after breakfast: 186.5
Weight Sat. afternoon, after washing car: 183.5
Weight Sat. afternoon, after shower: 183.0
Haven't weighed myself since then...

Explain that. :)

So I weighed myself for the first time in several months, and I seem to have gained about 15 pounds in that short period of time.

That doesn't seem right, but I guess it's possible. I'm going to have to cut the morning muffin I eat for "breakfast" out, I guess...and no more of those stupid coffee drinks from Starbux. And cutting back on soda too. I didn't think I had gone overboard with these things, but I guess I had.

The other funny thing is, I don't feel like I added that weight. My waistline is a tiny bit more snug, and my gut is a little bigger, but I don't feel as though I put that much weight on. Plus, I'm still exercising, so I don't get that.

But, oh well...we'll see. I'll just have to be more conscious about what the hell I'm eating/drinking/doing...not actively dieting, per se, just being more aware.

Your humor for today...I just saw a couple packs of this, Blue Q gum, on a coworker's desk. Go check out the gum section of the Web site...freakin' awesome! Just plain brilliant. I have a box of Sluticillin Gum decorating my desk right now. Personally, I wish I could get some Mofo Gum. But that's just me...

I am now CPR and AED certified by the Red Cross. So if any of you need either of those, you can feel safer when I'm around. :)

Otherwise, there is nothing ado about much.

Shrimp!

So it has been a year since Gina and I went on our first date. A year since I started to "win her over" if you will. It took two months, but obviously, she made the right choice. ;) I know you're all tingly inside at the thought.

But it's pretty amazing how quickly things have moved along. When you look at a calendar and think about it, it's pretty quick. But if I just sit here and think about it, it doesn't seem like it was one year ago. In fact, at the time, it seemed like it would take forever for me to prove to her I was worth her time. But it didn't take long at all. And even that seems much further away than a year. I say that because two of our first dates were weddings (a coworker and Steve, my longtime friend and neighbor), and it seems as though those two couples have been married more than a year to me. And it still hasn't been exactly a year yet...but it seems like Gina and I have been together a lot longer than that. It's strange. Then you consider that I was unemployed for five months in there, I lived at an apartment during that time, and it is simply stunning how fast time really does fly. A lot has happened. Before you know it, we'll be in our new condo.

We went out to Branmor's in Bolingbrook yesterday. It was good...definitely relaxing, as the place was pretty empty for the most part. That began a long week full of eating out and marginally fancily at that...Friday is her uncle's wedding rehearsal dinner, Saturday is dinner with my parents for their anniversary at Gale Street Inn, which I can't believe my parents are allowing us to drag them to ("It's too far..." babies...) and then the wedding on Sunday.

And can you believe that the holidays are right around the corner now too? Jeez...it's unrelenting. But I guess that is truly what makes time fly...fun or otherwise.

I actually worked pretty hard today...well, I do actually work pretty hard usually...but I mean that I was quite busy. By the time I looked up after the morning, it was suddenly noon. That's a good thing...busy-ness keeps time flying.

Today, the people we're buying the condo basically said "Fuck off" when we had our lawyer tell them to replace the blower motor on the furnace. Blower motors are cheap, thankfully, so we will, in a way, fuck off. It's not enough to warrant losing the place. This simply means that these people probably got another offer after they signed our contract and thus know they can hold us over a barrel. The way we get to say "Fuck off" to them? When we buy it from them for what I really believe is a steal, and then years from now when we resell it for at least what they should have gotten. The joke will be on them then...

On Sunday, Gina and I peeked into Harlem Furniture to find a sofa and recliner (or loveseat, depending on how big). We found a nice microfiber twill fabric set, which I'm told is just like suede but without the hassle. We weren't going to get the tables...but then we saw these really cool stone tile-topped ones that we liked and we thought went well with the dark olive (almost gray, really) pieces...but we'll see. It's still early, and that's the only place we looked so far. We need to get in there and measure things, so we know how big or small everything is, as well as take pictures of, say, the floor in the kitchen for color purposes.

Today, I drove out to The Brook to visit my dog and give him a new collar for while he's out there. Gina and I also had reservations at Branmor's out there. Today (well, Oct. 4, actually...it's still "today") is the one year anniversary of our first date, so, really, our anniversary, more or less. :) So we decided to celebrate a little bit...nothing special at all. So that was that.

Otherwise, I wanted to tell all those Cubs fans out there not to be so sad. You had a victorious and successful season after all: Chip Caray is leaving. That in and of itself should be something to be happy about, playoffs or not.

But now, I'm off to bed.
