Awesome. I went a month and five days without posting. That should scare everyone away from reading about my life. Yeah.

Hmmm...what has happened?

All is, as expected, relatively fine at work. Actually, one of the perks of losing a handful of the people above you is the trickle-down effect on some things. That trickle-down caught up to me yesterday. I now have my own office, complete with window to the outside and door to the hallway. No more cube farm for me.

I should be excited, and I am, for what this MEANS and all. But I am disappointed, in that my cube was actually in a great spot that I enjoyed being in. In city living terms, I lived at the end of a side-street cul-de-sac in the heart of the vibrant, action-packed area. So, I was near the fun and excitement, but nobody ever really came "down my street" unless they belonged there. Furthermore, you couldn't see my cube from the main hallway, so I could keep it as entropy-based organized as I wanted. Now, with my door directly off the main hallway, I have two things: (1) Must look organized (even though I WAS very organized, just in my own messy-looking way), and (2) I'll have more "company" in that more people will stop to chit-chat or interrupt me a whole lot more, because I'll be on their way. I'm like the Grand Canyon to the Griswolds' Wally World now...they'll pass by, stop for a little while, and then carry on their merry way. But, again, I am very happy, overall, about getting an office, especially since I'm staying in the same area of the building as I was in my cube. I'm literally moving my stuff about 15 steps. That's it.

What else? Well, my men's 12-inch softball team won second place in the fall league we played in. It was a very fast league, no doubt, but we kicked some major ass early on. Then, we tailed off a bit. Still, it's one of the best, if not the best, sports teams I've ever played on before. So that was cool.

I actually read a book: "Devil in the White City"...so that was odd for me to do, but I did enjoy it, which was to be expected. If you're a big Chicago history buff, you need to read it.

I also made headway and positioned myself well to carry out a project LONG in the thinking and short in the making. I have a few more things I need to take care of on this project, which will remain "unknown" here, for now, but at least I appear to have the main caveat out of the way. For now, it will be an "unknown" project...but eventually, you will all know what it is. Of course, it's not a big deal to anyone except me, really, and it's not going to make me money or anything, but it's something I've long wanted to do, and now I'm making progress. So that's good.

I'm deciding between three characters for Halloween. Since I've been Capt. Jack Sparrow (very well, I might add) the last two years, it's obviously time for a change (even though he would still be appropriate). I reserve the right to keep those three characters a secret as well...only because I don't know who is reading this nowadays, and I'd hate for someone who was going to be at any party I'm at to have an idea ahead of time. I like to surprise folks. So, stay tuned for that as well.

I've made little to no progress on the house projects or the baby's room painting chore lately. But, this weekend will be different. I'm moving all our stuff, finally, out of storage (stop paying the Man, dammit!) and also getting the couch and refrigerator from Gina's grandma's apartment. Yeah, so if anyone's available around 9am Saturday, come on by! :)

Oh, and, lest I forget: Sometime between the last post and this one, Gina's grandma died...so obviously that kept us busy for a time as well.

Meanwhile, I've just been slaving away at work, doing my best to try to get ahead of the game. It appears to be working, and the new owners are, as of now, on the side of editorial, so that's good. We'll see how that goes, of course...but for now, all is well. Gina, also, is doing well, for those of you who may be wondering. We have a boy's name mostly settled upon, but if it's a girl, it will likely go down to "the wire" in a sense.

For now, that's all I can think of...a lot definitely has happened over the last month--let's hope I don't let another entire month go by without updates!
