So the upheaval has occured...new co. came in and IMMEDIATELY canned the fam that started the place a decade and a half ago. There were some folks in tears in the conference room, and Friday was a really sad day. We're a real tight group of about 100.

But, seriously, aside from that change, along with some other little "inconveniences" that are changing, it looks as though it will probably work out well. Of course, as with any change, if you ask the people around now, they'll pooh-pooh whatever they can. Personally, I'm trying to think about it as positively as possible. First, although the fam got canned, my direct boss survived. I had a feeling it would be tough to get rid of him...he's only the best guy in terms of money-makers around. Maybe he'll be there long-term, maybe not, I don't know. But at least he's there to shield my staff and I from most of the transitional silliness.

That said, I also look at this as an opportunity. Apparently, the folks they canned, they're not replacing. That means, actually, everyone in the co. just got close to "the top," as it were. And, it appears that our office will have a decent measure of autonomy, which is nice--shows that they see what success we've had and are willing to display some trust (until we screw something up, I'm sure) in us. That's nice.

At any rate, it's certainly been pretty stressful, and I've had to try to talk some of my friends "off the ledge" for Christ's sake, as many are (uselessly) concerned too much about some things they don't need to be concerned about.

I think this will be damned good for our group, truthfully, and I'm really excited. I'm worried only for some of the peripheral things that, really, don't matter overall, and for some of my friends there, who could very well be in "danger"...so we'll see.
