Well, Maxim refused to let us go to their pre-Super Bowl party...bunch o' jerks...that doesn't give me much hope that we'll be allowed to go to Playboy's party. I mean, I read and like Maxim--it's a good magazine, and quite funny at that, not to mention the nice pictures of the nice ladies--but really, is Maxim that uppity that it can refuse media? I mean, wouldn't they want us there, the editors of Pro Football Weekly, enjoying ourselves and talking up a good game about it afterward on our Web site and/or in our paper? They said they could offer us a photog spot on the red carpet, but that was it...

Oh well, nothing to cancel my subscription over, that's for sure. :) I told Donna I wished Maxim was in Chicago, or had a branch here or something, because I think it would be a sweet place to work, much like PFW. But alas, it is in crappy New York...bastards once again.

I'm feeling much better about my health today...played floor hockey last night, and while I was quite winded and very, very tired after the game, today I'm only kinda sore--I have a beautiful little welt on my right calf where the ball nailed me (though I'm sure Kim has a worse one on her ankle), and my lower back is a little sore. But all in all, I feel pretty good...that makes me happy, because I thought I was so ridiculously out of shape that I'd be dead today. I guess it just means we substituted in and out at a generally good rhythm.

Statistically speaking, we lost 5-3 and really didn't play that poorly for our first outing...our downfall was our general rustiness. I described our play to a coworker as undisciplined chaos...basically, we knew where we needed to be on the floor, we just couldn't get there half the time. Once we get our legs under us, we should be good. I did not score once, though I took about 10 shots. I need to buy a stick, because I couldn't get any flip on the ball because the stick I used was too long. Every one of my shots was a roller, inside of airmail.

Today, I'm busy...big surprise, right? I've not slacked off that much earlier this week, it's just that stuff has come to me slowly...oh well, I guess. I've got soooooo much to do between now and Sunday, since I leave for the Super Bowl on Monday...there, this blog might go on hiatus for a week, unless I get some time to update it there...I promise I'll try.

L'hockey de floor tonight. I'm psyched. Unfortunately, I have to wash my red shirt and boil my mouthguard to form-fit my teeth still. I'll do that at my parents' house after work I guess.

And the White Sox have added Bartolo Colon...how nice. :)

Otherwise, that's about it for now...still awating The Sims, and then I'll lock myself away for awhile. :) Or not. Found out that I can save a whole $5 buying Nascar Thunder 2003 used as opposed to new...what the hell's the point of buying used then? Morons.

Well, I guess I've left this blank for a while...didn't really want to post anything...but I'll put up a pseudo-brief recap of things...

1. Still awaiting word as to whether the PFW editors who are going to the Super Bowl (myself included) will be attending the biggest, best pre-Super Bowl bash of them all: The Playboy party. I'm excited about the notion of rubbing elbows with celebrities and athletes...with or without the scantily-clad Bunnies there. Oh, and before I get emails saying, "Andy, you shouldn't talk about that on your blog," Donna knows about it and is cool with it...and that's why I love you... ;) Of course, I was a bit disappointed when I found out that Maxim's Super Bowl bash is the same day and time. Maybe I'll sign up for that on the ever-so-unlikely chance that the Playboy party sucks.

2. Special kudos to Scott, my cousin by marriage to Andrea...he has gotten me hooked on a game I thought I might buy but didn't think I'd really like that much: NASCAR Thunder 2003. It was tons of fun last night playing my best Dale Earnhardt, bumping people to spin them out of control. Generally it looked like a fun game...if I can find it used for cheap, I'll probably pick it up, furthering my fat-ass-sitting-on-the-couch-playing-video-games syndrome. Damn technology...if it hadn't gotten so good, I would have never bought a PS2.

3. In more important news, the game Donna calls a geek game, The Sims, comes out for PS2--when I wrote this originally this morning, I thought today, but I guess I'm wrong...I went to Circuit City at lunch and it wasn't there...the Circuit City Web site says Thursday. At any rate, I'll be purchasing this game without a doubt. Today, if at all possible. I love the CPU version, and the PS2 version is supposed to be that much better. More of that syndrome up mentioned in No. 2 ahead. :) Of course, Donna may not call it such a geek game once she's hooked on it after we play the two-player versions...if they're cool.

4. Random fax just received, not for the kiddies, to invest in Titan Technologies, Inc., stock symbol TITT. I kid you not...and the closing statement of the ad is "Good luck watching TITT fly this quarter!" Ah, random fax hilarity is always good.

5. I hate traffic. I've been here at work all of 45 minutes because, (1) I got up five minutes later than usual...it's amazing how things snowball after that, (2) there was a stray puppy in our backyard, so I had to help Gerard lock our dogs in the basement while he brought the puppy inside, and (3) traffic was the worst it's been since before Christmas. Side note: Further proof that there's no way my dog attacked that other dog way back when--Autumn, Gerard's dog, was going nuts standing by the basement door to get to the puppy. Kazak, my dog, sat right next to me as I put my socks and shoes on, showing little care for the puppy upstairs. If he were really vicious, he'd want to get at that thing. Gerard got ahold of the owners, and they were on their way to pick up "Ally McBeagle" as of when I left.

6. I've noticed a strange difference in my sleep, brought on by a slight change...I now sleep under a sheet and a comforter instead of just the comforter...I don't get too hot, and I seem to sleep more soundly. On the negative side, it's a lot harder for me to get up in the morning, and on days off, I've slept quite late...somewhat uncharacteristic, even though I typically sleep in a bit on days off...is it possible that I'm getting worse sleep and just not realizing it? I don't know...all I know is, I need new pillows, and I should fork out some cash for nicer ones that last more than a year or less.

Oh well, that's all for now...maybe more later on...
