Rarely am I privy to interesting interactions. However, today at the post office, I was privy to an interesting give-and-take, albeit a short one.

I walked in and there were three employees at the desk. Two were black ladies, one was Hispanic or Asian or something...didn't get a really good look, because I didn't care. Anyway, the Asian woman (we'll call her that, for whatever reason) was trying to explain to two older Hispanic men something about a zip code not being 60618 but 60625. Don't know what it pertained to, but whatever. She was speaking English, and they were not.

So I step up to the counter with one of the black ladies, and the two of them are yelling at the other woman to tell the guys, "If you don't understand me, learn English, or go to another post office," out loud because they were trying to find an employee who spoke Spanish. Then the one helping me goes on the time-tested "if you're gonna live in this country, learn the language. If I went to any of their countries and tried to speak English, they wouldn't let me. But we gotta learn Spanish. That's stupid." And she's conversing with the other black lady about this. Then, there's a pause, brief. And the 2nd black lady says something like, "That reminds me of when I went out for Chinese food the other night. I couldn't understand a thing they were saying. They should learn English if they're gonna serve people. You wanna talk about racism? I was the victim of the most blatant racism I ever heard of."

By then, I was gone from the counter. But I just found it to be a funny and interesting give-and-take.

Why does MBNA have to be different? Every other bill I have (except my car insurance) is due at the turn of the month. But no, MBNA is due smack in the middle. Because of this, I often forget until it's right up when the thing is due, thus often gambling that the mail will get it there on time. So again, this month, I'm charged a late fee because I flat out forgot about it until now. Dammit. I hate bills.

Today I get to make two phone calls on potential employment. One to schedule an interview and one to talk landscaping shop with a landscaper and possibly secure employment there. We shall see how things go.

Later, PFW softball takes my time. Between now and then, I don't know what I'll do. But I'll find something. Probably I will do the writing test that I got from the employer yesterday.

Well, the interview wasn't a disaster, but otherwise, I have no clue how it went. Anyone who's been on interviews knows what I mean. The guy wasn't bubbling over with excitement, but I wouldn't expect that. I did get some take-home work that I have to do to show I can write the stuff they do, but that shouldn't be too hard. I'll do that tomorrow, along with calling the other two places I have to call.

And I can't move furniture in front of the gash, because it's right next to the door, where he tried to get out. So we'll see.

Yeah...ready to make dinner soon. Otherwise, that's about it.

This is the earliest I've been up in a while.

I have an interview at 10am, but I have to go to Kinko's to print a couple clips beforehand. I was going to do that last night, but I came home to the second straight day of destruction to the front door by Kazak. I couldn't figure out why the hell he started trying to claw his way through the drywall next to the door, but I talked to a neighbor and she said they were blowing off fireworks nearby both days.

He probably isn't used to fireworks at all. For three years, he lived in the basement in The Brook, so he probably hasn't heard fireworks, at least not that loudly. So I think he's scared of them when I'm not around. He also destroyed two miniblinds in the frontroom. This is, obviously, a bad thing. It's going to cost me money to replace, either way. Maybe I can convince my dad to come and help me patch the drywall someday before we move out. I also don't want the landlord to see it and give a bad recommendation to any future landlords. The blinds are one thing...but the big gash in the drywall is another thing entirely. We'll see.

So, I have to walk the dog, iron my shirt, shower, shave, go to Kinko's and then get to this interview by 10. Shouldn't be too hard to do, but this is why I'm up right now. :)

Everyone have a good day. ;)
