"It sounded like a freight trai...er, Dale Jr.'s #8 stormin' 'round Turn Three."
Kinda cool when things like this happen. Not for them, of course...but interesting to see. I like the throwaway line, unattributed, that the racetrack's bowl shape helped the tornado form. I mean, hey, it sounds plausible, but it sounds almost too corny the way it's stated. Do I smell a new urban legend hatching? Yeah, just like tornadoes don't hit downtown areas...

--I really hate when my motivation level is low. Stupid (but much-loved) Friday summer hours!

--I forgot to mention the other day that I spend much of the Fourth weekend watching the first season of "24" with Gina. She had not seen it. In two evenings, we got through the first half of the show--it's nice when the 15 minutes of commercials are cut out for you. It sure makes it fly much, much faster. There are so many things I forgot about...and it's fun to sit and say, "Oh, yeah, I forgot about this..." Plus, it's nice that Gina will have a little better background on some of the characters...she's only seen Season Four in full, and didn't really pay that close attention to Season Three, though she watched it.

--Beyond that, nothing else is new as of now. Plenty busy, but nothing important in the grand scheme of things seems to be going on. I have softball tonight, after a week off and a forfeit week...so we'll see how that goes. Other than that, I'm just waiting patiently for 3pm, so I can get outta here. :) I have a ways to go yet.

Coupla things I forgot...

Much of the weekend, I spent watching Season One of "24" over again, so Gina could see it. And you know, there are things, as Laz posted ages ago, that you just don't pick up on. I also sit there and say, "Wow, I forgot this character even existed!" and things like that. She's really enjoying it, too. We watched the first half in two days...we're spacing it out a bit, unlike pseudo-marathoner Laz. :)

I'm currently uploading more CDs. I'm on "L," which means I've gotten to L.A. Style. I'm probably the only person in the world to say this, ever, but I'm uploading L.A. Style to my iPod. What if I'm in the mood for hypnotic bass and beats? I mean really hypnotic? You never know. Plus, it's a good backup option. Besides, I didn't say I was going to listen ONLY to L.A. Style from now on. :)

Finally, I just have to say, thank you to the California (yes, California, dammit) Angels for trying to sneak Bobby Jenks through waivers. I enjoyed watching him strike out two in his ML debut today, throwing 97-99 mph every pitch except one (a breaking ball). Thanks. I can't remember the last true fireballer we had on the staff (without a dead arm, thank you very much Billy Koch). It's exciting. Though being 31 games over .500 is pretty damned exciting too. :)

--A moment of silence, please... ... ... ... ... ... GRIDLOCK!!!
Sorry, I couldn't resist. :) Still one of the better Phil Hartmann impressions back in the day...

--Finally. Finally. Our big issue is done and gone. And July lurks. Much to do for it, but at least the load is lighter and I can get a good head-start, if you will, this week. That's always nice.

--Other than that, I need to learn how to slide a little softer. I believe my slide is pretty textbook, but there's got to be something I'm doing wrong, since I think I'm close to breaking my hand. Every week, I've slid at least once, and I've developed a deep bruise on the outside of my left calf, but what's worse is that the outside base of my left hand hurts like hell to the touch. Deep bruise or jam, I'm sure, but if I keep pounding it into the ground when I slide (as support), I fear I'm going to really hurt it. That would not be good.
