The Medill Job Fair wasn't bad...but only one really, really, really positive lead, and that's because I knew one of the "recruiters"...a former dormmate (but one only the older CRC folk would remember). We caught up on things (who's married to whom, who is where and all that) and chatted about the publishing house she works for...her fellow recruiter actually is from the South Side, so that was another nice bonus, and we had a good conversation about that...her parents went to the same high school my dad attended (and dropped out of) at roughly the same time. What are the odds? :) The place seems cool to work for, but they don't have openings right now. In fact, most of the openings were entry-level types. I also talked to Roger, the coolest prof on the face of the Earth. He's doing well, for those of you who care to know. Do you still have his chair, Laz? Just wondered...

I did step into the "working nights at a daily" pile of crap that I've been avoiding thus far. One major local is looking for a copy editor. So I gave them my resume and said to call me. We'll see. That would pay quite well, probably...but nights and weekends go bye-bye.

Otherwise, I'm brainstorming...I'm going to wow the interviewers from my high school by developing my recruiting strategies over the weekend...taking the advice of a former coworker and fellow alum, I ought to imitate successful NFL coaching candidates and walk in with "playbooks" and strategies and a "presentation" pertinent to my duties if I were to be hired. If I show I put in the prep work AND they like my ideas, I can't lose. :) I already know I can wow them with my personality...but if I combine that with the aforementioned prep work, I should be good to go. Plus, it's good practice. The question is, can they pay enough? Probably...but we'll see.

Other than that, not much else is new...for those who don't know, Dick Curl is actually someone's name (though not the poster of the last comment)...it's the former tight-ends (of all things) coach for the Jets...but he's coaching something else now...I forget what. Whatever...

Let me just say, PCs suck.

I ran VirusScan, I ran Adaware. Nothing gets rid of some of this crap that's on here. Stupid PCs and their vulnerability to auto-downloaded programs. Macs don't seem to have that problem.

Got damn, it's windy. Made work this evening a little tougher than normal. Thankfully, the groups were very well-behaved and didn't waste time either.

I interview with my high school on Tuesday. That is also Day One of PFW softball. I can't wait, since Oak Lawn softball doesn't start until NEXT Friday. Ah well. I'm dying to play already.

Tomorrow, the day is wide open again. What should I do with my time? That doesn't cost money, of course.

Boy, the search engines have really fired up in recent weeks. I wonder what "gina cues" is all about? Certainly some interesting searches have gone on. Oh well...to bed I go.

Got a call from my high school...gonna set up an interview with them. That ought to be cool...

I'm also going to a Medill Career Fair on Thursday, special thanks to Kathleen for the heads up on that one. :) There seem to be a good, good helping of companies coming to it. (Laz, you should contact them and see if they can do anything for you, since you are an alum and all...just a thought) They've said (to Kathleen) that there will be non-entry-level jobs available, but we'll see, I suppose. That's if they don't check me out at the door and kick me out for not being an alum, officially. And if that happens, oh the hell I will raise. :)

Waiting to hear from the other four places I applied to. Hopefully they at least get back to me with a "you suck" or something.

Today I went to my parents to do a load of laundry. Whoopee.

Here's a picture of my deck in all its floral glory. It'll look better as things grow more.

Otherwise, "24" is tonight, and it seems I'll be watching all by myself. Ho hum.

Well, that's it for now...pretty boring right now, I know.

Oh, yeah, I don't know what's worse...Pizza Hut commercials or KFC commercials. I know they're owned by the same company, but both commercial sets pretty much suck ass.
