Man, it was nice to get a good night's sleep. I missed a bit of sleep this weekend, and I actually feel refreshed and ready to work today, believe it or not...
SoxFest wasn't nearly as good this year as last. They didn't have as many players there as they did last year, so there were fewer options. That forced everyone into the same lines, preventing us from getting an autograph, walking to another line and getting another autograph, as we did last year. This year, the second line was full. Each player has limits on how many autographs they sign--realistic limits--and those lines had filled up by the time we got there...I sacraficed getting Mark Buerhle's autograph for Frank Thomas', since I think there's a better chance Buerhle will be there next year than Thomas.
Anyway, I also found out that a house on my parents' block is for sale. It's a long-time resident, whose kids grew up with my dad. It's a two-bed, one-bath frame house that's running only $85K. I took a look online and went through the mortgage calculator...with what I have to put down (not much, granted), it would run me pretty much just as much as if I got an apartment in the city.
Now, I have never actually been in the house, and I'll have to take a look at it. But for a frame house, $85K is pretty normal in the area. There is no garage, and the house is at the back of the lot, on the alley. But that's nice because it allows for a big front yard...something that is good for Kazak. The house should be "dog-proofed" already, because dogs have lived there as long as I've been alive too.
The other bonus, maybe, is that the realtor is a woman that grew up across the street from me and should know who I am. She's a few years older, but still, she should at least recognize the last name and my parents' names...we'll see I guess.
For now, it's time to work...
