--65 days.
--But the above is not the milestone for today. Yes, folks, today, at lunch, my car...turned...200,000! Though I'm pissed, because I wanted to watch it click over, but was too preoccupied with getting to the post office to mail the invitations...damned driving preoccupations!
I tell you, it's a good thing that cars aren't living things (Help! It burns! It burns!), because this car would certainly despise me by now. Considering I bought it almost six years ago to the day, and it had a "mere" 39,000 miles on it when I did. The car itself is nearly 10 years old (and that's just the sticker year--it's a '97, which means it might be a year older than that even, depending when it was manufactured), and who knows what the person before me did to it.
But it has been a very good, very reliable car. I mean, to last this long, that's pretty impressive. It still runs well, although not nearly as well or smoothly as it did early on. It has lost some spunk as well...doesn't kick in off the bat, doesn't take bumpier roads as well as it did, and that general feeling of comfort is pretty much gone. I worry about the car plenty, because, yes, it could go at any moment.
And, although I'll be pissed if it craps out, the car deserves it. It's been through the wringer. After the wedding and honeymoon, it'll be put to rest, and I'll be getting a new(er) car.
So, roll on, my friend...you've served me well, and your day of rest is fast approaching.
Just get me to July and we'll be good to go. Please.
