What a long, pain-in-the-ass day it has been...at least it's over now. I hope I'm tired enough to sleep through any of the storming tonight. I'm pretty tired.
Side note: After growing up here, and never having been in an area under a tornado warning and only going in the basement one time in my life because the weather was really threateningly bad, I've now been directly in the path of two tornado warnings within the last month or so. Today, I'm working late, working hard...get up to get ready to leave around 8pm, and the production guy says, "It's a hurricane out there." I was oblivious to that point. Then, of course, I find out there's a tornado warning for Lake County. Guess where I work? Wonderful. Eventually, I got in the truck and left, braving running halfway across a completely empty parking lot to my car in a lightning storm, and got on the highway.
Hopefully the freakin' quarter-sized hail that pounded the shit out of my truck did no damage. I could actually SEE the windshield shaking with each hail strike. It was harrowing...and annoying, because we could have driven out of it, if the selfish assholes up ahead hadn't just STOPPED in the middle of the expressway under a bridge to protect their cars. Smart? Yeah, sure, aside from stopping in the middle of the expressway. Selfish? Definitely. So we'll see...
Anyway, it's off to Florida tomorrow until Friday...I'll try to update this, but we'll see how it goes...have a good week, everyone!
