You know what's exciting? It's softball season again...
For what might be the final year I play in three different leagues each week (Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays), I'm psyched. But I'm trying to keep the pressure/expectations off myself. It's hard, as softball is really the only sport I can walk confidently into and say, "I'm good at this sport." I'm not Softball Hall of Fame material yet, of course. But I can play.
But, next year, depending on how things fall in the family planning department, I might have to make some sacrifices. That hurts me to think I won't be able to do it as much as I want, but obviously, you have to give to get sometimes, you know.
So, I missed three games across the board while in Germany, and although I could actually feel the ligaments in my throwing shoulder during Friday's warmup, I was really pleased with my pitching that day and my hitting...even though we lost 10-5. This is the new men's 12-inch team half-comprised of my buddies that I grew up with. We look like we have some potential.
Meanwhile, my company team looks good, even though they sit at 1-1. I'm excited to play in that league because we look like we might be solid. I'm trying to temper my enthusiasm.
Also, I missed the PFW opener, which turned out to be a 17-17 tie, I guess. Tomorrow, barring rain, will be my 2007 debut there.
So we'll see...I need the exercise and love the game, as you can tell. Let the fun begin! :)
